Advocacy is vital to streamlining important public health issues and initiatives that can affect and influence the community and respective stakeholders. With advocacy, effective communication to frame messages is integral to the process of bolstering public health advocacy. Participants in this course will learn about the difference between advocacy vs. lobbying and recommendations and techniques to communicate public health messages to build your own advocacy toolbox.

By the end of the lesson, participants will be able to:

1. Describe the Data Elemental to Health Campaign purpose and initiatives. 
2. Identify methods that public health partners and practitioners to support in the public health data modernization. 

Framing Public Health Messages
By the end of the lesson, participants will be able to: 

1. Describe the purpose of the public health infrastructure. 
2. Describe the workforce challenges epidemiologists experienced while working during COVID-19. 

Building your Advocacy Toolbox

By the end of the lesson, participants will be able to:

1. Describe the difference between advocacy vs. lobbying. 
2. Identify at least 3 recommendations to effectively communicate public health messages.
